Introducing Gassenhof and Val Ridanna

Our hotel in Ridanna/Ridnaun is an experience hotel. This means in concrete terms that a summer and winter holiday at our hotel is due to be an unforgettable experience. It is our mission to offer you a holiday which you will cherish for a long time to come. Gassenhof is situated at 1,350 metres above sea level amid the pristine nature of Val Ridanna/Ridnauntal.

Val Ridanna/Ridnauntal is a side valley of the Wipptal Valley, extending over 18 kilometres. The valley, just like the communes Mareta/Mareit and Telves/Telfs, belongs to the commune of Racines/Ratschings. The Ridanna Valley is framed by the Stubai Alps. Together with the Ötztal Alps, they form one of the largest mountain massifs of the Eastern Alps. A particular highlight in the Stubai Alps is the Becherhaus, the highest mountain lodge in South Tyrol. The Becherhaus was built in 1894, originally named “Empress Elisabeth” refuge, and situated at 3,195 metres above sea level. From Ridanna/Ridnaun you reach the lodge in about seven hours.

Active holidays in Val Ridanna

Our hotel offers the ideal base for hikers on every level of difficulty. Our hotel is in fact a member of the hiking hotel in South Tyrol and part of the Vitalpina Hotel Group. Here you find everything you need for an active hiking holiday in South Tyrol. Val Ridanna offers something for everyone, from leisurely hikes to sunny alpine lodges to easy strolls across green woods. Experienced mountaineers get their money’s worth on the Ridanna high trail or while climbing one of the valley’s summits of over 3,000 metres. Whether you are up for a tranquil walk or a more ambitious high-mountain trek, the result is ever so rewarding and not to be missed: unforgettable panoramic views and a feeling of freedom which is hard to top.

Winter is also a great time to explore this region. Val Ridanna is ideal for cross-country skiers because of its great snow conditions. So slip on your cross-country boots and skis and start sliding away, while taking in the spectacular beauty of the idyllic snowy valley framed by the majestic mountains. If you prefer downhill skiing, check out the Racines/Ratschings ski resort, only ten kilometres from our hotel in Val Ridanna. Alternatively, explore the pristine nature snowshoeing or try ice skating, curling, or tobogganing. The sky is the limit. If you are a romantic at heart, we recommend you a horse sleigh ride across the magnificently beautiful surroundings of our hotel in Val Ridanna/Ridnauntal!
