Wipptal Valley in South Tyrol
Culture enthousiasts: this one’s for you!
The Wipptal Valley in South Tyrol extends from Brennero/Brenner southwards. The valley reaches to Fortezza/Franzensfeste in the South and Innsbruck in the North. As our guest at the Experience Gassenhof in Ridanna/Ridnaun – The Place of Experiences, you are off to a veritable discovery when going out and about the Wipptal Valley in South Tyrol.
In Mareta/Mareit, about five minutes’ drive from our place of experiences, you find the Wolfsthurn Castle, one of the most enchanting castles in Tyrol. Since 1996, the castle is the home for the South Tyrolean Museum of Hunting and Fishing.
Another castle in the South Tyrolean Wipptal Valley is the Reifenstein Castle (a.k.a. Tasso Castle) situated about 20 minutes’ drive from our hotel, just beside Vipiteno/Sterzing. The castle is known to be the best preserved castle in South Tyrol, probably because it has never been conquered (or destroyed) throughout its history. Here, you can visit a total of ten chambers, among which a torture chamber and an underground jail.
